Anti Social Behaviour

Everyone has a responsibility to be a good neighbour.  This means that any action which may cause distress or disturbance to your neighbours should be avoided.  Some tips on being a good neighbour include:

  • controlling the volume of sound from radios, stereos and TVs;
  • keeping noise down, in, or near your home, particularly between 11.00pm and 7.00am;
  • warning neighbours when you are having a party;
  • if you have a dog, do not allow it to bark constantly in your home or in the garden and clear up any mess it makes;
  • being aware of how your children’s playing routines may affect neighbours.

If you do experience any problems, the first thing to do is to talk to the neighbour concerned.  If this doesn’t help, start keeping a diary of events and come and talk to us in confidence.  We can try and help sort things out and we can also contact the Council’s Mediation Service.  They have trained mediators who can discuss the issues with everyone concerned and help them come to an agreement.  Persistent noise can also be reported directly to Glasgow City Council on 287 6529.   Additional information on anti-social behaviour can be found here

If you experience a high level of disturbance from a neighbour you should contact your local police office and let us know as we can get a report of the incident.
