Governance and Management Structures
We have a Management Committee of up to 18 members elected from four categories. In parallel with achieving charitable status, our services and consultancy arm became formally separate as a non-charitable wholly owned subsidiary company, Thenew Housing Services Ltd, with a separate Board, currently composed of five directors, two of whom are Management Committee members of Thenew Housing Association. The Thenew Trust is a separate body governed by a Trust Deed and is linked to Thenew because the trustees are Management Committee members and staff. We have six Sub-Committees.
We have an innovative approach to the management of our housing located in different areas. This provides for a high level of resident involvement and control whilst core business management responsibility rests with the Management Committee. In several of our principal housing areas we have helped establish independent constituted Area Associations with whom we can enter into formal or informal agreements over delegated powers and responsibilities for management of the area. In other areas we have more informal ways of involving residents in decision-making.
The chart below shows our decision making and participation structure.
